Following the successful delivery of the fifth set of PSA nitrogen equipment customized by European ship customers in December 2020, SMC Asia Gas Systems Chengdu Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the overall system inspection of the nitrogen generation system on the 2.0 Version of the world’s largest and most advanced 18,600 m3 LNG bunkering ship built by a large domestic shipyard, and passed the Acceptance by the foreign shipowner!
This project is the first LNG bunkering ship in the world to apply the membrane Mark III Flex type for maintenance system. After delivery, it will dock at the main Mediterranean ports. The specially design to provide LNG fuel for ships in the Mediterranean region, including container ships, oil tankers, ferries and large cruise ships. It can be perfectly connected with the LNG fuel tank of the world's largest 22000TEU container ship.
Due to the extremely complex working environment of the LGN bunkering ship, the working conditions of nitrogen use on the ship are diverse and complicated. Compared with the V1.0 version, the overall performance of the ship has achieved "three major improvements". The high "throughput" rate, the loading rate and unloading capacity are both increased by 25%. The high compatibility, regardless of whether the service LNG-powered ship adopts the type of LNG fuel tank or the membrane type of LNG fuel tank, it can achieve fast and safe filling. The high coverage rate, therefore as the performance of marine nitrogen machine supporting the use of the reliability of the most demanding and require specialized custom software and hardware to match the extreme requirements to ensure that the work of filling the boat can provide security for all types of LNG-powered ships, stable Full process service.
Among the series of ships in this project, the nitrogen system of the previous bunkering ship was provided by a European nitrogen generator manufacturer. But the nitrogen system was unstable, the mode switching was not smooth, and the overall noise exceeded the standard in commissioning and acceptance. Many problems have caused inconvenience to the use and operation of the entire ship. Therefore, when the second ship was built, both the shipyard and foreign ship-owners required to replace the nitrogen manufacturers, and added more functional requirements and stricter assessment standards. They selected SMC finally, a subsidiary of IGS Group, to supply it.
The SMC engineering team gave full play to the advantages of IGS Group's many years of experience in the PSA nitrogen generation system in the preliminary design. Improved design of drying system and adsorption cycle, etc., perfectly cope with the six different complex working conditions that the bunkering ship needs to provide in the later use process, and in the FAT and adjustment test acceptance stage, the whole machine is multi-working The shipowner, shipyard and ship inspector performed the actual performance operation demonstration, and finally passed all the assessment items perfectly, and won the affirmation and praise of customers!
